Elveden House, part of the Elveden Centre complex, is a historic office tower located at 717 7th Avenue SW in Calgary. Completed in 1960, it was Calgary's first skyscraper and stands at 80 meters tall with 20 floors. Designed by the architectural firm Rule Wynn and Rule, Elveden House showcases International-style architecture, characterized by its clean lines and modernist design principles.

The development of Elveden House began in 1959, marking the start of a significant era in Calgary's architectural history. The building was part of a larger project commissioned by the Guinness family, which included three towers: Elveden House, Iveagh House, and Guinness House. Together, these buildings formed the Elveden Centre, named after the Guinness family's estate in Suffolk.

Elveden House was built to accommodate the rapid growth of Calgary's business sector, particularly the oil industry. Its construction required the city to amend building restrictions, allowing it to rise above the previously limited twelve stories. The project was executed by the Commonwealth Construction Company, with steel provided by Dominion Bridge Company.

The building features 447,814 square feet of office space, with modern amenities including upgraded elevators, life safety and HVAC systems, and renovated common areas. Its strategic location in downtown Calgary provides easy access to various dining, shopping, and entertainment options, as well as proximity to multiple LRT stations and the Plus 15 skywalk system.

Elveden House remains a significant landmark in Calgary, not only for its historical importance but also for its continued role in the city's business community. Its blend of historic charm and modern functionality makes it a desirable location for businesses seeking a prestigious downtown address.
