TD Canada Trust Tower is a prominent landmark in Calgary, Alberta, renowned for its impressive postmodern architectural style. Designed by the esteemed WZMH Architects, the building is strategically located at 421 7 Avenue SW, right in the heart of Calgary's bustling financial and retail district. This 41-storey skyscraper, completed in 1991, stands at a height of 162 meters, making it one of the tallest buildings in Calgary and a key feature of the city's skyline.

The construction of TD Canada Trust Tower began in 1988 and was completed in 1991, with PCL Construction serving as the main contractor. The building's development was a significant project, reflecting the economic growth and urban development of Calgary during the late 20th century. The tower encompasses a total area of 65,000 square meters, distributed over its numerous floors, and is primarily used for office spaces.

One of the distinctive features of TD Canada Trust Tower is its four-level retail podium, which houses The Core Shopping Centre. This integration of office and retail spaces exemplifies a mixed-use approach, enhancing the building's functionality and convenience for its occupants. The tower is also part of Calgary's extensive Plus 15 skywalk system, providing sheltered pedestrian access to surrounding buildings and amenities, thereby contributing to the interconnectedness of the downtown area.

The TD Canada Trust Tower is home to several major tenants, including TD Securities, Macquarie Group, Apache Corporation, and the law firm McCarthy Tetrault. These tenants underscore the building's importance as a central hub for business and commerce in Calgary. Managed by 20 VIC Properties, the tower offers modern amenities and state-of-the-art facilities to its tenants.

Historically, the site of the TD Canada Trust Tower was once occupied by the Eaton's department store, a landmark in its own right from the late 1920s to the 1980s. Elements of Eaton's original structure have been preserved and incorporated into the tower's retail podium, blending historical preservation with modern development.

Overall, the TD Canada Trust Tower is not just a building but a symbol of Calgary's economic vitality and architectural innovation. Its strategic location, modern facilities, and historical significance make it a key asset in Calgary's urban landscape.
