City Park Swimming Venue is a low-rise unknown / other development proposed. This project is located at 1600 Abbott St Kelowna, BC V1Y 1B7.

The City of Kelowna has unveiled plans for a state-of-the-art, $18-million natural-water swimming facility situated directly on Okanagan Lake at City Park. The floating venue revitalizes a key stretch of downtown waterfront, restoring a historic urban amenity lost when the Ogopogo Stadium and Pool burned down in 1969.  

Designed as a world-class public space, the project combines open-water sports infrastructure, leisure areas, and environmental stewardship, ensuring free access for residents and visitors.  

Key Amenities & Urban Impact

 Water Infrastructure: Features an eight-lane, 50-metre lap pool set directly into the lake, protected swim zones, multi-height diving platforms, and designated areas for aquatic sports like water polo.  

 Public Realm & Accessibility: Includes expansive floating sun decks, shaded seating, outdoor showers, change facilities, and barrier-free gangways to ensure universal access.  

 Year-Round Activation: Planned programming includes seasonal swimming along with dedicated cold-plunge zones for winter use.

 Downtown Vibrancy: Positioned along the Abbott Street corridor, the facility will significantly enhance Kelowna’s central waterfront network, driving foot traffic and supporting surrounding downtown retail, hospitality, and residential developments.
