At least from what i know, In October 2025, the City of Kelowna purchased three key properties from Westcorp for $27.8 million. The city has hired Avington Financial Limited to find a major hotel brand and a new investment group to take over the project. I meant to say it will take 3-5 years from estimates for them to find a new contractor and start work ASAP as the city wants it done.
Unfortunately, I forgot to say the building height can't be over 25 stories now as per the new city’s Official Community Plan but I'm quite optimistic whoever gets it will be granted height variance. But i am still I'm expecting a total overhaul.
The Westcorp project as we knew it is dead officially which makes me a little sad as I loved the last proposal but I am also just as pleased to see what we get next as Kelowna is investing a lot for it to finally happen.
I am not sure about 3-5 years, if they don't have a developer or investors in this project?

So with the whole city acquisition on this property from westcorp as I understand this project is now effectively dead as the city tries to find the new developer.
The good news is from what I hear is the height should be around the same as the westcorp proposals and will be built within the next 3-5 years.
It was a fun 20 year run for this project. Can’t wait to see what developer picks this up and the finished design they go for.

That’s impressive. Downtown going to be changed forever with the students making streets and businesses busy. Can’t wait for it.
Was just downtown last week and finally started seeing the vertical elevation going up! (around 3 floors so far)

Any update on the proposal?
Been looking forward to this ever since the application was submitted, I'm hoping for the best
Incredible site to develop with high exposure the the Highway 97/Harvey corridor, and steps to downtown amenities! Proud to have been involved with the process and purchase of this site a few years ago, look forward to this modern architectural design while fitting into a compact land area. Robert Mistal, at Royal Lepage Kelowna, call me for more details or other land opportunties anytime.
