Wow what, so weird. I don't see what is so different about this proposal compared wit other approved housing, especially as we need more rentals. It is for sure a "rare decision".
This was rejected by council for being "too dense" despite a desire to increase density along the Glenmore Transit Corridor.

Kelowna is behind, but I mean, any cities that are not? Interest rates are killing it, housing is not being built and Airbnb rules aren't helping, so investors are out also. It is not profitable to build towers without investors, so we are back to 6-storey rentals only.

I know right... The article says "The potential uses of the building include, but are not limited to a restaurant, wine tasting room, wine shop, urban winery, distillery, urban market, events space and a residential unit.", which is just so limiting.
That part of the downtown just got 3-tower development project (Water by the Park) going and changed the downtown so much already, how is the building next to it only allowed 4 storeys...
Dang, that would have been really cool for downtown!

Unfortunately, again, it didn't go anywhere and was canceled. This is very disappointing.

Ugh, the lawsuit coming in. Very expected, but might hurt the project. Also 2 level parkade is a huge stepback. It's all a biggest story of Okanagan development for eays to come, but I still hope the positive outcome in the end.

Based on the new photos, the tower is at least 12 storeys, maybe 13. Which makes it the tallest tower on the west side of the lake! Wooohoo.
