Kerkhoff told CastaNet that they still own the property. Probably just agreed to get a free demo by UBCO, as the building is no use for them anymore.
Well I guess if it wasn’t already confirmed that the Kerkhoff project was dead, it is now! I wonder what UBC has planned for the future.

I have been driving there every month with full hopes of any updates, and NONE. Townhomes are finished, parkade seems to be done. But the second phase of the construction which should include taller buildings doesn't have any progress. They removed all phases completion dates from the website, which previously stated 2024 for the second phase.
I would speculate that they still want 100% occupancy on the townhomes first, which is not the case, because they are ridiculously expensive, starting at 2700 for the basement 2 bedroom unit.
Any updates on Ledge? there has not been an update in a while.

Demolition permits issued for the Legion and CoLab buildings around UBCO. The Legion building has been purchased by UBC Trust now, so it owns a big chunk of the land next to the future downtown campus! Which is pretty nice for the future as they can use it to build more facilities for the university or the needed parkade :)

Call me a cynic but it is WestCorp. You’d have to be quite the optimist to believe some of the proposals they put forward are going to be built. I hope I have to eat my words!

The neighbors of all the houses around this project signed and presented a petition with more than 150 signatures on two occasions, so that the construction be of tower houses and not this imposition of six floors. We are on a street with only one access to Franklin Road. This will be a big traffic problem all the time, parked cars complicating exits for neighbors who have existed for years. Nobody wants this monster on top of our houses generating shadows and noise in such a small space. It will be a big headache to live with this building where everything around is low density. This style of building is more suited to streets like 33rd but not within a neighborhood that has lived in harmony for years. Without consideration for any fire accident or ambulances that need to enter adjacent buildings like La Sierra that is already difficult to access because it is on an angle with only one entrance.
